Dr. A. P. Adewuyi is a promising academic and research scholar. He had his background training in Civil Engineering in Nigeria where he obtained Bachelor of Technology (M.Tech) and Master of Science (M.Sc.) degrees from Ladoke Akintola University of Technlogy, Ogbomoso and from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, respectively. He proceeded to the College of Engineering at Ibaraki University, Japan where he received his doctorate in Structures and Earthquake Engineering with the aid of the prestigious Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) Scholarship between 2006 and 2010. He had comprehensive training in health monitoring of simulated prototype and existing large-scale intelligent infrastructure system using the conventional MEMS accelerometers, displacement transducers, and electrical static and dynamic strain gauges. He also adapted the novel fiber optic sensing techniques such as the quasi-distributed long-gauge fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors for reliable structural health monitoring. He completed an intensive training programme on Structural Health Monitoring using Statistical Pattern Recognition for Aerospace, Civil and Mechanical Engineers by Los Alamos Dynamics (Structural Dynamics Consultants) at John Blume Earthquake Engineering Centre, Stanford University, Palo Alto, CA in 2009.
Dr. Adewuyi started his academic career with LAUTECH where he rose to the position of Senior Lecturer in Civil Engineering. He joined Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) in 2012. He has taught students in undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Structures and Foundation Engineering over the years. He has also handled many projects as a consultant, and supervised many undergraduate and postgraduate research works. He is a well traveled academic with many scholarly publications in referred journal, international and domestic conference proceedings. He is a member of many national and international professional bodies such as Registered Engineer, Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE), Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) of American Society of Civil Engineers, and International Society for Structural Health Monitoring of Intelligent Infrastructure (ISHMII). His research interests cover structural health monitoring-based maintenance, smart materials and structural dynamics, mechanics of concrete structures, time-dependent deterioration prediction of structural systems, and durability assessment of construction materials.
