Get More Grants for the University - VC Appeals to Academic Staff

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kolawole Salako has charged academic staff to get more grants for the University.

He gave the charge during his familiarization tour of College of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development (COLAMRUD), College of Environmental Resource Management (COLERM), College of Engineering (COLENG) and the Nurudeen Adedipe Library.

Professor Salako noted that often grants were usually secured through individual efforts for the University, stressing that those seeking to get grants must be accountable in all ramifications and be ready to learn from their predecessors.

He disclosed that the eleven new vehicles that are on campus were bought from the grant that Cassava Adding Value for Africa (CAVA II) secured for the University.

In COLAMRUD, the Dean, Professor Adewale Dipeolu articulated  the challenges and achievements of the College, assuring the Management that with necessary support, it will function better.

At COLERM, the Dean of the College, Professor Clement Adeofun also, highlighted the achievements and challenges facing the College.

The University Management also visited College of Engineering where the Dean, Professor Johnson Adewunmi listed the challenges and achievements recorded by the College.

In a similar visit to Nurudeen Adedipe Library, Dr. (Mrs.) Fehintola Onifade who spoke on behalf of the University librarian, Dr. (Mrs.) Mulikat Salaam appreciated the Management team for acquiring new computers, as well as new volumes of books for the library. She also briefed the Management on some of the challenges facing them. 

Dr. Fehintola also noted that University publications were not usually sent to the library, appealing to the Management to always remember their staff when committees are being constituted. She solicited for more library staff to enable them serve the University better.

In his response, the Vice-Chancellor reiterated the efforts of Management in ensuring that both staff and students have all that they need to make work and learning more conducive. He commended the Colleges for their support and cooperation while assuring them that their challenges were well noted, adding that Management team will take necessary action, he directed that a report of the various challenges be sent to him.
