The motto of Osogbo Grammar School, Osogbo (my Alma mater), established in 1950 is “KEEP PUSHING”.  The motto has had tremendous influence on those who have passed and are still passing through the Secondary School till today.  Professor Balogun should follow it, too.

The admonition or advice to Prof. O. O. Balogun to make this his watch word becomes necessary because of the negative activities of those who have unforgiving hatred not only for him, but also for the good works he is doing in UNAAB.

The latest and most shocking was the deliberate falsehood against him, up to Abuja that was revealed by Mr. M. O. Ilesanmi, the Acting Bursar and corroborated by the Vice-Chancellor himself on 4th January, 2011 during the special prayer to usher-in the New Year in UNAAB.  It is an act of disservice not only to weaken and smear him but also to slow down the pace of development, going on now at the University.

Here is a man, Professor O. O. Balogun, the Vice-Chancellor of UNAAB, who has proved to everybody in the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, that in Nigeria, we are still blessed with leaders, who are prepared to sacrifice their time, money, experience and indeed, everything for the development of the University and mankind.

For example, within the first three and half years of his purposeful administration of UNAAB, over fifty projects have been completed and several are on-going.  He has always assured the community that none of the projects will be abandoned, but instead, more would be added.  All these are aside the numerous ways, this kind, hard-working and highly de-tribalised Nigerian has positively touched the lives of students, staff, pensioners and mankind in general.

Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Omoluabi Balogun has faithfully kept to the charge of Late President J. F. Kennedy of the United States of America who said “Do not ask for what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country”.

Professor O. O. Balogun should know that there is no way you can please everybody.  There will still be betrayals because in every twelve disciples, there is one Judas Iscariot.  This is why Jesus said “… but woe to that may by whom the son of man is betrayed. It would have been good for that man if he had not been born”, (MATT. 26:24)”.

By closing the doors of his office and his residence to sycophants, lobbyists and influence peddlers, he has offended them by bringing to an end, the era of collective looting.  The peace of God we are enjoying on campus should not be disturbed because whoever is against it, will meet the wrath of God.  Amen.

We should all continue to pray that the Lord should continue to guide him aright and to make his tenure as the 4th Vice-Chancellor in UNAAB a great and successful one.  Also, that the peace of God in UNAAB should continue forever, Amen.  Again, that the Lord will compensate him with a higher position at national or international level for the great development we have witnessed in the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta from 2007 to date.  It is unprecedented, and too numerous to mention.

Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Omoluabi Balogun, KEEP PUSHING in the face of all odds as the Lord is solidly behind you.  Amen.
