The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun has congratulated the newly-inducted Veterinary Doctors of the University, as he commended them for their perseverance and endurance during the period of their training.
Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Chryss Onwuka, the Vice-Chancellor, in his address at the 3rd Induction Ceremony and Admission of the 2010/2011 Veterinary Graduates of the University into the Veterinary Profession, said the newly-inducted Veterinarians “have all it takes to face the challenges of the Veterinary Profession head-on”.
He urged them to go out and distinguish themselves as worthy ambassadors of the Veterinary College and, of the University.
Prof. Balogun felicitated with the inductees’ parents and guardians for their efforts at making the event a reality, and prayed for them to reap the fruits of their labour.
Earlier in his speech, the President, Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN), Prof. G.A.T Ogundipe, charged the newly inducted Veterinary Doctors to uphold the ethics of the profession, by reflecting nobility and comportment in their conducts.
Prof. Ogundipe tasked them to demonstrate mutual respect among their colleagues and give utmost respect to the Veterinary Council.
The President however, discouraged the use of flamboyant titles amongst Veterinary Doctors and also frowned at touting, warning that the Veterinary Council, as the ‘police’ of the profession, reserves the statutory duty to sanction erring practitioner.
