Dr. Alayaki, F. M. had her primary education at W. J. David Memorial Baptist School Lagos and secondary education at Wahab Folawiyo High School Ikoyi, Lagos from where she emerged as the best female graduating student in 1989 and won Wahab Folawiyo Scholarship to study at any University in Nigeria. However, she first acquired a Diploma in Civil Engineering at the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, where she finished with distinction and once again emerged the best graduating student in 1992. With the scholarship from her secondary school, she took a BSc in Civil Engineering in 1998 and MSc in Highway and Traffic Engineering in 2002, at the University of Lagos, Nigeria. After working for the construction industry in Nigeria for some years, she was appointed Assistant Lecturer in 2008 at the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB). She left on study leave to the United Kingdom in 2011 to obtain PhD in Geotechnical and Environmental Engineering at the University of Cambridge. The PhD degree was sponsored by Schlumberger Faculty for the Future Foundation and her fieldwork in Nigeria was sponsored by University of Cambridge under the auspices of Cambridge-Africa Alborada Research Fund. She is a registered member of Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), a corporate member of Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) and the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN).
