The Governing Council of the University has approved the appointment of Professor (Mrs.) Morenike Dipeolu as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic).
According to a release by the Registrar, Dr ‘Bola Adekola, the appointment, which was on the recommendation of Senate is with retroactive effect from January 8, 2018 and is for a period of two years.
A Professor of Veterinary Public Health in the University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and Fellow, College of Veterinary Surgeon Nigeria (FCVSN), the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic bagged her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), Masters of Veterinary Public Health (MVPH) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) Veterinary Public Health from the University of Ibadan.
Professor Dipeolu won the Federal Government Merit Award as best DVM student for the 1983/84 Session; University of Ibadan Departmental Prize for Best Student in Veterinary Pharmacology; Veterinary Surgery and Reproduction, as well as Faulty Prize for Best Veterinary Student of the Year 1987.
She was also an Awardee of the Japanese Government’s Monbusho Scholarship for Research at the Faculty of Agriculture, Gifu University, Gifu Japan (April 1995 – March 1997).
Professor Dipeolu is registered with the Veterinary Council of Nigeria as a Veterinary Surgeon and has served in different capacities within and outside the University. These include Member, Governing Council, University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (August 2005 to 2009); Dean, College of Veterinary Medicine (April 2008 till July 2013); Deputy Dean, College of Veterinary Medicine (November 2003 to March 2008); Director, Graduate Records and Career Counseling Centre (2007 to 2008); Chairman, College Board of Veterinary Medicine (April 2008 to July 2013); Chairman, Students’ Welfare and Hostel Management Committee (2007-2012); Chairman, Committee of Deans of Faculties/Colleges of Veterinary Medicine in Nigeria (2010-2013); Chairman, Committee of Deans and Directors(2012-2013), among others.
Her work experience include Consultant, Veterinary Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Veterinary Teaching Hospital, FUNAAB; Visiting Professor on Sabbatical Leave, Department of Veterinary Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Ibadan (February 2014 – August 2015); External Examiner (both Undergraduate and Postgraduate) to Faculties of Veterinary Medicine at University of Ibadan, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria,Usmanu Dan Fodiyo University, Sokoto and University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
Professor Dipeolu has supervised many undergraduate and postgraduate students both as a Major Supervisor and as a Member of the Supervisory Committee.
