Former Director, Institute of Food Security, Environmental Resources and Agricultural Research (IFSERAR), Prof. Akin Omotayo has charged members of the University Community to always support anyone they come in contact with so that they will continue to enjoy the grace of God.

Prof. Omotayo said this while speaking at a Send Forth ceremony, organised by the Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development (AERD) in honour of Prof. Comfort Adamu who retired meritoriously from the University.

According to him, Prof. Adamu’s selflessness and charity are some of her unique attributes which stands her out as “a blessed woman who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but delights in the law of the Lord and meditates on it day and night”, adding that “she is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither”.

Earlier in his Speech, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kolawole Salako, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Bolanle Akeredolu-Ale commended Prof. Adamu for being a hard worker, a quiet and silent achiever and great mentor.

The Vice-Chancellor on behalf of the Management congratulated her and wished her a fruitful, fulfilling, healthy and rewarding retirement experience.

Corroborating the earlier speakers, Dean of College of Agricultural Management and Rural Development (COLAMRUD), Prof. Emmanuel Fakoya, Head of Department, AERD, Prof. Olubunmi Ashimolowo, Head of Department, Communication and General Studies (CGNS), Prof. Comfort Onifade and some of the celebrant’s students described her as an epitome of charity, a scholar, a proactive leader, and an apostle of due process.

Prof. Adamu while delivering her vote of thanks acknowledged Almighty God for His mercy and grace which has brought her so far and appreciated the University Management, her College and Department for honouring and celebrating her.
