The War Marshal and Odeda Area Commander of Man O’ War Nigeria, Statesman Charles Geteloma has advocated peaceful co-existence among Nigerians, in order to enhance development and growth in the country.

Statesman Geteloma stated this while delivering a Lecture on Nation Building: marking Pre-NYSC Orientation Programme, organised by MAN ‘O WAR Nigeria, FUNAAB Command, held at Anthony Anenih Hall FUNAAB.

According to him, “A house divided among itself cannot stand while a nation at war with itself cannot make meaningful progress”, hence the nation requires unity of all its citizens despite any diversity that may exist.

Mr. Geteloma said the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Programme was established to foster national unity and cohesion, adding that Youth Corp members are advised to obey all rules and regulations guiding the Scheme while urging them to live peacefully with the host communities of their primary assignment.

The War Marshal urged Nigerians to accept one another in the spirit of patriotism saying “For though we may disagree on issues, it should be a disagreement to eventually agree. That you are right doesn’t mean I am wrong”.

He called on leaders, elders and youths to dialogue and listen to each other as negotiation and diplomacy always follow conflict and wars, for there is no good war or bad peace.

Statesman Geteloma encouraged the new graduands going for Youth Service to be good ambassadors of the University and the group, adding that their actions and activities during service year will go a long way to determining who they are, charging them to be well-behaved and be responsible always.

Earlier, the Dean, Student Affairs, Professor Mobolaji Omemu admonished the Camp participants to be focused and to adhere strictly to the rules of engagement while in NYSC Camp, stating that if they are able to scale through Pre-NYSC camp, organized by the Man O’ War, the regular NYSC Orientation Camp will be seamless for them.

In his Welcome Address, the Coordinator-in-Chief, Man O’ War Nigeria, FUNAAB Command, Patriot Abimbola Orebajo welcomed participants to the programme.

He highlighted the aim of the programme to include preparing final year students towards the actual National Youth Service Corps Scheme.
