The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development) Professor Olusola Babatunde Kehinde is set to deliver the institution’s 70th Inaugural Lecture on Wednesday, December 22, 2021.
The Lecture titled, “From Generation to Generation: Plant Genetic Diversity, Continuity and Discontinuity” holds at the ambience auditorium of the Oluwafemi Balogun Ceremonial Building of the University beginning at 2:00 pm.
A Professor of Plant Breeding and Genetics, the 70th Inaugural Lecturer has served the University in various capacities which include member of the University Governing Council (2009-2013), Dean, College of Plant Science and Crop Production (2009 – 2011), Director, Graduate Records and Career Centre (2008 – 2009), Acting Head, Department of Plant Breeding and Seed Technology (2004 – 2008), among others.
Professor Kehinde has equally served on notable committees such as Chairman, FUNAAB Strategic Plan (2014 – 2020) Review Committee; Chairman, Committee on Enhancement of FUNAAB Internally Generated Revenue; Chairman, Campus Security Committee (2009-2013), Chairman, Committee on the Establishment of FUNAAB Radio and Member, University Budget Drafting Committee, among many other committees.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development) was a visiting Lecturer at the Mendel University in Brno, Czech Republic in 2010. In Nigeria, he was a member of the National Technical Working Group (Agriculture) on vision 20: 2020 as well as the study Group that reorganised the National Agricultural Cooperative and Rural Development Bank into the Bank of Agriculture.
Professor Kehinde, who belongs to several professional associations like Genetics Society of Nigeria; Genetics Society of America; African Crop Science Society; Agricultural Society of Nigeria and Seed Science Society of Nigeria, had a 3-year stint (2016 -2019) at the Lagos State University where he assisted the University to establish its School of Agriculture and became the pioneer Ag. Dean.
The 70th Inaugural Lecture would be chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Felix Kolawole Salako.
