SSANU FUNAAB Enjoying Symbiotic Relationship With Mgt. – Com. Fasunwon …Hosts Western Zonal Executive Council Meeting.

The Chairman, Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, FUNAAB, Chapter, Com. Olurotimi Fasunwon has said that the union is enjoying a symbiotic relationship with the University Management, which according to him is aimed at taking the Institution to an enviable height.

Speaking at the 66th Western Zonal Executive Council Meeting of SSANU, hosted by SSANU FUNAAB chapter, Com. Fasunwon noted that the Management team led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kolawole Salako have been supportive, understanding, cooperative and have  good relationship towards SSANU members in FUNAAB, adding that they have never had it so good in the history of SSANU and Management relationship in the University.

He appreciated the efforts of the immediate past Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Dr. Aboki Zhawa and the immediate past Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ololade Enikuomehin who initiated the peace process they are enjoying today.

He noted that Prof. Kolawole Salako has built tremendously on this legacy and the entire system is reaping the good fruits of peace and love.

Appraising the Vice-Chancellor while addressing the gathering of SSANU members, the National Vice-President, West, Com. Abdulsourbur Salaam described the last four years of Prof. Salako as wonderful, stressing that he did not start from a position of advantage and yet had made an appreciable impact in placing the University’s name among the leading Universities in Nigeria.

Com. Salaam added that the Prof. Salako led administration brought peace and stability to FUNAAB and has given birth to a lot of development, adding that his best is yet to come even as he progresses.

In his address, Com. Salaam urged the committee of Vice-Chancellors to do more in terms of advocacy in supporting the union in the struggle to better the lot of their members and Nigerian Universities at large in order to retain and regain the prestige Universities used to have some years back.

Responding, Prof. Kolawole Salako appreciated the eulogies showered on him as the Vice-Chancellor, but noted that he is not easily carried away by eulogies, noting that he acknowledge good things that people do and appreciated those who are making things work in the University.

The Vice-Chancellor promised to look into the requests of the union, noting that he is always strict about rules and regulations, assuring them that the Management will see what can be done about it.

Delivering his goodwill message, the Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress, Ogun State Chapter, Com. Emmanuel Bankole appreciated the Vice-Chancellor for all he has done and has achieved in FUNAAB so far. He admonished Nigerians to do things in a different way so that change will come, stressing that  if the country must change, it all lies in the hands of its citizens who will choose who they want to lead them.

Com. Bankole however advised SSANU members to always settle internal rancour maturely and work together for the overall benefits of their union and the University at large, while calling on other sister unions to work together not only for the growth of FUNAAB but also for the future of the unborn generations.

The 66th Western Zonal Executive Council Meeting of SSANU concluded with the issuance of a Communique charging the Government to make good their promises in the agreements reached with SSANU.

Present at the event were, the Registrar, FUNAAB, Dr. ‘Bola Adekola, Chairman, National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), FUNAAB Branch, Com. Joseph Olurinde, Executives of SSANU from the South West Zones of Nigeria Universities and other SSANU branch members from FUNAAB.
