Short Profile

Prof. Johnson K. ADEWUMI is an erudite scholar in the field of Soil and Water Engineering with emphasis on irrigation technology. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng.) in Agricultural Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1980, he obtained a Master of Science (MSc.) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree from the same university in 1985 and 1998 respectively. As an international scholar, he is also an alumnus of the prestigious Cranfield Institute of Technology, Silsoe, UK; Volcanic Agricultural Center, Bet Dagan, Israel.He distinguished himself by winning a number of scholarships, fellowships and grants in the course of training such as Kwara State Scholarship Award (1977-1980), Federal Government Scholarship Award (1982-1984), and World Bank Research Fellowship (1994), Agricultural Research Council grant (2010). He is a professional in his calling and is a member of several professional bodies such as Chartered Engineer, Engineering Council, U.K.; The institution of Agricultural Engineer, U.K.; International Erosion Control Association (IECA) U.S.A.; Nigerian Institution of Agric. Engineers (NIAE); Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) etc.

His over 30 years wealth of experience in training and research has enabled him to produce about 40 undergraduate and post graduate students, he has also served the nation in different capacities. He is a prolific writer and has published over 50 articles in international journals, peer reviewed conference proceedings, chapters in books and technical reports. He is the Immediate Past Dean of College of Engineering.
