Short Profile

Engr. Dr. AKINYELE Joseph Olawale (MNSE) started his academic career at the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta in 2007 as Lecturer II; he rose to the position of a Senior Lecture in 2015. He graduated from the University of Ibadan, with B.Sc. in Civil Engineering. He later obtained his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (Structural Engineering) all from the same University. He is a registered Engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering Practice in Nigeria (COREN). He has worked with many Construction and consultancy firms, including Etteh Aro and Partners, Concrete Structures Nigeria Ltd, Aqua Project Nig. Ltd, Quadriga Ltd, BCL Apapa Lagos. His research area of interest is the analysis of structures using yield line and other established methods like Finite Element Method, Materials with emphasis on Micro and Nano properties of concrete, the use of polyethylene terephthalate and polyynyl as alternative Structural Engineering materials. He has served in many committees and boards in the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta at different occasions. He is a well-travelled academic who has attended many conferences and trainings within and outside Nigeria. He was in the Tshwane University of Technology, Pretoria, South African between 2015 and 2016 for his postdoctoral research, where he worked on the use of rubberized concrete in construction. He is a conference speaker, counselor and teacher. He was the Acting Head of Civil Engineering Department between 2016 and 2018. He has many research publications in learned journals and peer reviewed conference proceedings to his credit. He was actively involved in the design of the proposed college of Engineering buildings, and the FUNAAB ASUU secretariat Phase II project.
