The Dean, College of Engineering (COLENG), Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Professor Samuel Babatope Adejuyigbe has expressed delight over the full accreditation of all the Engineering Programmes in his College.
The elated Dean, who could not hide his joy in an interview with FUNAAB Bulletin said, “the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) accreditation is mandatory and compulsory because if you don’t have full accreditation, your programme will not run”.
According to him, full accreditation is valid for five years and the University accreditation status is valid till 2017.
Professor Adejuyigbe pointed out that formally COREN used to issue interim accreditation but now, “it is either you pass or you fail and if you do not have full accreditation then you have failed and it shows that you can not admit any student against the next session until you have been accredited”
Professor Adejuyigbe commended the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olusola Bandele Oyewole for the giant stride, which was achieved under his administration, stating that the programmes which were given full accreditation by COREN are Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering and Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
