Professor Oyewole gave the charge on Monday, while declaring opened, a Workshop on Food Safety and Risk Minimization, held at the University International Scholars and Resource Centre.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, apathy on the part of Nigerians towards the safety of the food they eat is the cause of food borne diseases that either maimed or killed some of them untimely.

Proffering the way forward for the Workshop, the Vice-Chancellor challenged the organizers to make it an annual International Workshop.
According to him, “we hope we will be able to turn this Workshop to annual one, which should also not be restricted to Nigeria and Ghana alone, we should strive to make it an International Workshop”.
